Bob Allen Co-Chairs Successful Insurance Coverage Law Symposium at SMU Dedman School of Law for the American College of Coverage Counsel.

On November 11, 2022, the American College of Coverage Counsel hosted its 8th Annual Law School Insurance Coverage Law Symposium at SMU Dedman School of Law. The ACCC is an honorary, invitation-only organization of insurance coverage specialists made up of experienced practitioners of policyholders’ counsel and counsel for insurers. Prior Law School Symposiums have been held at Ole Miss, Boston College, Hastings, Michigan, American University and Nova Southeastern. This year’s symposium attracted an audience of over 100, including 30 law students from SMU and other law schools.
The speakers were phenomenal. For the Surfside Building collapse presentation, two of the speakers—one on the policyholder side and one on the insurer side—were involved in the $900 + million settlement that was consummated in under a year. Then, after exploring a plethora of cutting-edge insurance coverage issues presented by leading experts from across the country, the symposium concluded with an informative and entertaining mock examination of an insurance bad faith expert presided over by Dallas Federal Judge Barbara Lynn.
